Alice in Doomedland

Didier Guillon, The Room of Tears, Palazzo Bonvicini, Venice

For its third thematic exhibition at Palazzo Bonvicini, Fondation Valmont asked four contemporary artists to present their own version of the story of Alice in Wonderland, the celebrated and very current Victorian fairy tale published by Lewis Carroll in 1865. Alice in Doomedland brings together Didier Guillon, the pair of artists Isao and Stephanie Blake and Silvano Rubino in a choral exhibition for which each artist has created a unique installation, tailor-made for the majestic space of Palazzo Bonvicini. In addition to the individual works, a great collective work is also presented, which brings together the approaches of each in a common work. Alice in Doomedland is in fact the result of a demanding teamwork, born from the meeting upstream of the artists, who, on the occasion of a special workshop, talked about the echo in them aroused by the fervent world of Alice, guided by the reading of curators Luca Berta and Francesca Giubilei.
