Between history and cinema on the trail of the genius

700 years after the death of the famous Venetian, which occurred on 8 January 1324, the Museum of Palazzo Mocenigo, Study Center for the History of Textiles, Costume and Perfume dedicates an exhibition to Marco Polo which is also a tribute to the director of the film of the same name, RAI mini television series from the early 1980s, Giuliano Montaldo, to the costume designers Enrico Sabbatini and Stefano Nicolao, as well as to the great composer Ennio Morricone. Scene photos, original sketches and around thirty costumes tell the extraordinary journey along the "Silk Road" undertaken by a seventeen-year-old Marco Polo, who with his father and uncle crossed seas and boundless deserts, visited legendary cities, met powerful rulers and fearsome warriors from very distant countries and cultures, in an epochal adventure between Venice and China.
