The New Exhibition Season of Palazzo Cini

Paolo di Dono, known as Paolo Uccello, Saint George and The Dragon, 1430-1435, Painted wooden table, 131 x 103 cm, Paris, Musée Jacquemart-André | Courtesy Fondazione Giorgio Cini Onlus

The famous painting by Paolo Uccello San Giorgio and the Dragon arrives from Paris, loaned by the Jacquemart-André Musée as part of the L'Ospite a Palazzo initiative, in exchange for The Judgment of Paris by Botticelli, that instead moves to the French capital on the occasion of the exhibition Botticelli: un Laboratoire de la Renaissance (10 September 2021 - 24 January 2022). The painting by Paolo Uccello (1397 - 1475) which portrays St. George on horseback while killing the Dragon, brings a notable enrichment to the 15th Century Florentine core of the permanent Collection of Palazzo Cini and symbolically evokes the Christian soldier protagonist of the Foundation's logo. On the second floor of the Palazzo, the exhibition Piranesi Roma Basilico reopens with new works, curated by Luca Massimo Barbero and created in collaboration with the Gabriele Basilico Archive, which takes up the engraving work of Piranesi landscape painter through the original photographic reading of his famous views of the Eternal City.
