Helmut Newton, Elle, Paris1967

The exhibition entitled Helmut Newton. Legacy, edited by Matthias Harder, Director of the Helmut Newton Foundation, and Denis Curti, Artistic Director of Le Stanze della Fotografia, summarizes in six chronological chapters the artistic legacy left by Helmut Neustädter, better known as Helmut Newton, the great photographer from Berlin with an unmistakable style. Born on 31 October 1920 into a wealthy Jewish family, in 1938 he left Germany due to the racial laws and embarked for Australia, where he opened a small photography studio. The meeting with June Brown, stage name Alice Springs, actress and photographer and muse, with whom he will share his emotional and professional life, takes place in Melbourne. Newton's elegant and bold shots exhibited on San Giorgio Island retrace his entire career, from his beginnings in the 1940s and 1950s in Australia to the 1960s in France, from the 1970s in the United States to the 1980s between Monte Carlo and Los Angeles, to the numerous shootings of the nineties everywhere in the world.
