Venice Celebrates Tintoretto

The entire city celebrates the 500th Birthday of Jacopo Robusti, a.k.a. Tintoretto (1519-1594), dedicating a series of exhibitions and events to the titanic Venetian master in collaboration with the principal public and private collections worldwide. Among the most important institutions in the city participating in the commemorative project, the Gallerie dell’Accademia, with the exhibition Il Giovane Tintoretto (Young Tintoretto), retracing the years of study and the early rise to fame of the young painter, Palazzo Ducale dedicates the event Venezia, Città in Festa per Tintoretto to the years of the Master’s creative apex, the Scuola Grande of San Rocco, the Curia Patriarcale, and many of Venice’s churches, offer the public a look at the immense masterpieces residing in the city from the time of their creation, while the Museo di Palazzo Mocenigo with La Venezia di Tintoretto, offers a journey through the 1500s, in Venice and beyond, with an original exploration of the historic and environmental context of the world in which the artist lived and worked.
